Gellan Gum (GG) for Plant Cloning

Product Description:

Gellan Gum (GG) low acyl from Alzymologist Oy is a high-quality, linear, negatively charged exopolysaccharide renowned for its biodegradability and non-toxicity. This exceptional reagent is ideal for plant cloning due to its unique properties and numerous benefits.

Key Features:

  • Gel Formation with Metal Ions: GG forms a firm and transparent gel in the presence of metal ions, ensuring stability and reliability throughout the cloning process.
  • Stability at Low pH: The gel remains stable even at low pH levels, making it versatile for various plant growth conditions.
  • High Water Solubility: Easily dissolves in water, providing convenience in preparation and usage of solutions.
  • Biological Production: GG is produced biologically, resulting in a high-quality product with minimal environmental impact.
  • Excellent Film/Hydrogel Formation: GG exhibits outstanding film and hydrogel formation properties, essential for different stages of the cloning process.
  • Biodegradability and Biocompatibility: Completely biodegradable and biocompatible, ensuring plant safety and minimal ecological footprint.

What is the difference between low-acyl and high-acyl gellan gums?

Low-acyl and high-acyl gellan gums differ in their characteristics and applications. High-acyl gellan gum is excellent for thickening liquid nutrient solutions for plants, providing an optimal environment for growth and development. Low-acyl gellan gum increases the gel density, creating a texture similar to agar, making it ideal for forming solid nutrient media. Both types of gellan gum are strong competitors to agar, ensuring the necessary consistency and support for various plant cultivation purposes.

Applications:

  • Food Industry: Used as a stabilizer, thickener, and gelling agent.
  • Biomedical Field: Suitable for creating biocompatible materials and drug delivery systems.
  • Cosmetic Industry: Utilized in creams, gels, and other cosmetic products for its film-forming properties.

Instructions for Use:

Follow these steps to prepare 1 liter of tissue culture medium using low acyl gellan gum:

  1. Prepare the Water:
    • Pour 800 ml of distilled water into a beaker.
  2. Mix Components:
    • Add media base salts MS media from alzymologist (or an alternative medium), 30 grams of sugar, and a plant preservative (typically 1-2 ml/l) to the water.
  3. Adjust the Volume:
    • Adjust the total volume of the medium to 1000 ml.
  4. Set the pH:
    • Adjust the pH of the medium to be within the range of 5.4 to 5.8.
  5. Incorporate Gellan Gum:
    • Stir in 3–4 grams per liter of gellan gum until it is completely dissolved in the medium.
  6. Sterilize the Medium:
    • Autoclave the medium for 20 minutes at 15 psi pressure and a temperature of 121°C.

Your medium is now ready for use!

Conclusion:

Gellan Gum (GG) from Alzymologist Oy is a reliable and efficient reagent for plant cloning, providing stability and quality results. Its unique characteristics make GG a versatile component for various applications, ensuring it is an indispensable part of your scientific and industrial needs.
