WPM | McCown's Woody Plant Medium Basal Salts with Vitamins
Woody Plant Medium (WPM) is a low-salt, high-organic tissue culture formulation originally developed by Lloyd & McCown (1981) for the micropropagation of woody and difficult-to-culture species. Compared to classical MS medium, WPM’s reduced total salt content and optimized calcium-to-ammonium ratio promote healthier shoot growth, reduced hyperhydricity and better rooting in many woody ornamentals and fruit crops.
WPM Medium with Vitamins & Basal Salts
A complete formulation of Woody Plant Medium (WPM) enriched with essential vitamins and organic supplements. Ideal for micropropagation of woody and difficult-to-culture species, this blend delivers a balanced suite of macro- and micronutrients alongside glycine, myo-inositol, nicotinic acid, pyridoxine HCl and thiamine HCl.
Applications:
Clonal propagation of woody ornamentals and fruit rootstocks
Germplasm conservation of rare or recalcitrant tree species
Pre-transformation tissue culture and research in forestry/horticulture
Note:
Add sucrose (typically 20 g/L) and agar (for solid medium) separately. Adjust pH to 5.8 before autoclaving.
